Ce 20 décembre à Bamako (Mali), M. Lamine Diak, Président de l'IAAF, Maria Mutola, multimédaillée et championne Olympique du 800m ainsi que Roger Milla, l'ambassadeur du football camerounais, seront intronisés au Panthéon de la Gloire du Sport Africain. La cérémonie d'intronisation est organisée par le Comité National Olympique du Mali et Jappo SA, une agence de promotion du sport et d'évènementiel basée au Sénégal. Cet événement, qui se tiendra à l'Hôtel Radison de Bamako, sera l'occasion de décerner des diplômes d'honneur à ces africains qui ont dédié leur vie au sport et à son développement sur le continent.

Lamine Diak, IAAF President, Maria Mutola, the 2000 Olympic and multiple World 800m champion and Roger Milla, former football player, will be inducted into the Africa Sports Hall of Fame on 20 December in Bamako, Mali. The induction ceremony is being organised by the National Olympic Committee of Mali and the Jappo SA, a Senegal-based sports management and events agency. This event will take place at the Radison Hotel in Bamako and will give the opportunity to honour these Africans who have dedicated their lives to sports development on the continent.

Ce samedi 6 décembre s'est couru le Marathon de la Paix dans les rues de Bujumbura (Burundi). Cet événement sportif véhiculant un message de solidarité et de paix a été marqué par la présence de nombreuses personnalités sportives. Les champions Olympiques, Marie-José Pérec (France) et Venuste Nyongabo (Burundi), ont couru côte à côte dans cette course pour la paix, remportée par le Rwandais Félix Ntirenganya et la Kenyane Emilie Cheptuya. Au delà du caractère pacifiste de cette journée, le Burundi a également témoigné sa volonté de renouer avec le sport de haut niveau. Cette volonté se concrétise notamment par l'annonce de la construction d'une piste synthétique, financée par l'IAAF, dans la capitale.

On this 6 December, the Marathon Peace took place in Bujumbura (Burundi). This event, which happened in a peace and solidarity spirit, gathered Olympic champions like Marie-José Perec (France) and Venuste Nyongabo (Burundi). The Rwandan Félix Ntirenganya and the Kenyan Emilie Cheptuya won the 42 km race. Beyond the peaceful atmosphere of the day, Burundi wanted to claim its will to focus more on high performance sport. Le Conseil de l'IAAF, réuni le 6 et 7 décembre à Monaco, a décidé de confier au Maroc l'organisation de la Finale Mondiale d'athlétisme. Cette finale, qui se déroulera à Rabat les 11 et 12 septembre 2010 est, d'après Nawal El Moutawakel, Ministre de la Jeunesse et des Sports du Maroc, un « acquis précieux pour le sport marocain en général, et pour l'athlétisme national en particulier ». La Ministre a également précisé que le Ministère de la Jeunesse et des Sports s'engageait à rénover les pistes sportives du Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah et à mettre en place un tableau électronique pour cet événement.

The IAAF Council, which took place on 6 and 7 December in Monaco, decided to entrust to the organization of the World Athletics Finals to Morocco. This event will take place in Rabat on 11 and 12 September 2010. Nawal El Moutawakel, the Youth and Sports Minister, said that this final is a « valuable asset for Moroccan sport in general and for the national athletics in particular ». The Minister specified also that the Ministry of Youth and Sports committed to renovate the athletics track of the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium and to install an electronic board for 2010.

La CAA a appris avec une grande tristesse le décès du Camerounais Emmanuel Bitanga, directeur technique de la CAA et ancien directeur technique du Centre International d'athlétisme de Dakar (CIAD). Il est décédé à l'âge de 55 ans des suites d'une longue maladie.
L'Afrique perd l'un de ses plus brillants cadres techniques qui a toujours cru en l'avenir de l'athlétisme africain.
Le President de la CAA adresse ses condoléances attristées ainsi que l'expression de sa profonde compassion à la famille d'Emmanuel Bitanga au nom de la grande famille de l'athlétisme africain.

The CAA has been informed with sadness of the death of the Cameroonian Emmanuel Bitanga, CAA technical director and former technical director of the High Performance Training Centre (CIAD). Long-term disease took his life at 55.
Africa has lost one of its brightest technical manager who has always believed in the future of the African athletics.
The CAA President offers Bitanga's family his condolence and his deep compassion in the name of the african athletics.
